The Neotenic lamp is the result of the first collaboration between Petite Friture and American design studio Jumbo. The round, generous, organic shapes refer to the reassuring aesthetics of childhood. The intention of the designers:to arouse an emotion and create a carnal link between man and object. Available in two sizes, this pop, sculptural, chunky-looking lamp will spread good humour anywhere in the house. Neotenic is also a technical lamp: the quality of the light is both pleasant, homogeneous and powerful. The spherical diffuser in hand-blown glass has an opaline appearance and is soft to the touch, enhancing the sinuosity of the ceramic and quality of the light. The Neotenic lamp is a real feat combining craftsmanship and technique, defying the laws of physics. Made by ceramic artisans in Portugal, the body of this lamp requires a complex mould to achieve this rounded shape, especially for the large size which requires a mould in six parts. Neotenic is the result of meticulous work: manual finishing of the ceramic before firing, gravity drying and paint applied in a single step. Jumbo studio projects are both technical in their execution and joyful in their approach. The studio is a champion of affective design focusing on shapes, materials and colours to convey emotion and delight.
