Australian designers Emma Aiston and Daniel To created their studio in 2008: Wallpaper magazine nominated them as new designers to follow in 2009, and in 2010 they received the award for the most promising talent at 100% Design in London, as well as the “Bombay Sapphire Australian Design Discovery award”. For Petite Friture, they created the Cherry pendant: a minimalist silhouette made up of an assembly of simple geometric shapes. Cherry consists of an aluminium cone, under which a mirror-finish sphere appears to float. The light is optimally distributed around the room thanks to its conical shape and internal plexiglass diffuser which prevents glare. The light is also reflected on the polished steel sphere which is covered with changing reflections. The designers explain: “Cherry pendants refer to our child’s soul?: to the rubbers we used to collect and, more obviously, to the ice cream cone with a cherry on top that we loved so much.” This expressively designed pendant has a powerful integrated LED light source. It stands out for its lighting performance. It matches both classic and contemporary interiors. Presented on its own or in composition, Cherry offers a strong decorative value.
