Treat yourself to an ORIGINAL iconic piece by Vitra. An original will always hold its value. It will stay with you for your whole life and outlast you, to be passed on to the next generation. The Swiss design house Vitra is the only company authorised to manufacture George Nelson products for Europe: if you own a George Nelson product manufactured by Vitra, you can be sure it’s an original. George Nelson (1908 – 1986) is considered one of the founders of American modernism. He contributed to the beginning of modern design with a human dimension. Renowned for his collaborations with brands such as Vitra and Herman Miller, he has created several products that are now considered to be icons of mid-20th-century modernism. Designed in 1946, the Nelson Bench is entirely made of solid ash. It combines a seat made of natural ash slats with a solid base in black lacquered ash. With its formal language of clear, straight lines, it reflects George Nelson’s architectural background. It can be used as a bench to sit on, as well as a low console for storage and display.
