Since 1908, Carl Hansen & Søn has embodied the quintessence of Danish design by combining craftsmanship, quality and innovation. The brand brings together a collection of masterpieces of Scandinavian design: iconic items created by the greatest Danish designers. Handcrafted in Denmark, these pieces with their exceptional quality stand the test of time. With the strictest respect for the original models, Carl Hansen & Søn reissues the legendary creations of the founders of Scandinavian design. A leader in Nordic functionalist design, Vilhelm Lauritzen (1894-1984) is one of the most eminent architects in Danish history. He designed the Vega Chair in 1956 to equip the Folkets Hus. This modernist building located in Copenhagen was originally built to house the Danish labour movement. It’s now used as a concert hall, called Vega. Lauritzen designed everything in the building: furniture, lamps, door handles, stairs. This stackable chair, previously only found in Vega concert halls, is now available to a wider audience. Enthusiasts can finally enjoy this modernist masterpiece in their home. Profiling Vilhelm Lauritzen’s signature aesthetic, the functionalist design of the Vega Chair appears simple, effortless, but is imbued with character. Well proportioned for comfort, its backrest curves to fit the person sitting on it. Sleek, solid wood leg caps add an artisanal touch to the stackable design. The optional padding on the seat and backrest increases the level of comfort. Each Vega chair is handcrafted by skilled artisans, using the highest-quality materials. The Vega chair is much more than just a piece of furniture: it’s a functional work of art that embodies the heritage of Danish design.
