The Radieuse wall light, a design icon created by Le Corbusier in 1949 finally reissued! A genius architect and designer, Le Corbusier created the “Cité Radieuse” in Marseille, a residence built between 1945 and 1952. From its conception, this experimental building tried to materialise a new form of city: a “vertical village” called a “Housing Unit”. The Cité Radieuse is today classified as a historical monument. Le Corbusier even designed the lights in the apartments of his “city”. In 1949, he created the Radieuse wall light, which he had installed in the entrances to the apartments. The colours are the same as those adopted for the “Unité d’Habitation”: the iconic red, yellow, blue, white, orange and green. Inspired by the industrial lighting of the time, this curved sheet metal wall light is a symbol of 1950s modernism. Le Corbusier gave the Radieuse wall light maximum efficiency while hiding the light source. The light can be fixed in both directions to obtain either upward or downward lighting. With its iconic design, the Radieuse wall light is ideal for a large number of spaces such as a hallway, entrance or even a bedroom, for example. It’s suitable for both personal and professional environments.
